Education Rooted in Faith

At Southwest Christian Academy, academics are designed with intention. We offer a Christ-centered, liberal arts–inspired education that blends academic excellence with biblical truth. Our program draws from a variety of trusted curriculum publishers to create a rich, well-rounded learning experience across all grade levels.

Our Education Team carefully curates curriculum selections each year and develops structured lesson plans that are used both on campus and at home. These lesson plans provide clear, daily assignments, projects, and guidance so that learning remains consistent, intentional, and aligned—whether instruction is happening in the classroom or around the kitchen table. This partnership allows parents and teachers to work together seamlessly in guiding each child’s education.

Southwest Christian Academy’s academic program focuses on four core subject areas—Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies/History—with daily Bible instruction woven throughout. Our curriculum is designed to meet or exceed academic standards while nurturing critical thinking, strong character, and a biblical worldview

Bible Study

Bible instruction is a central and daily component of life at Southwest Christian Academy. Students engage with Scripture through age-appropriate lessons that emphasize knowing God, understanding His Word, and applying biblical truth to everyday life. Our goal is for students to grow in faith, develop a strong moral foundation, and cultivate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Language Arts

Language Arts instruction is designed to develop confident readers, clear writers, and effective communicators. Instruction includes writing, literature, grammar, vocabulary, and—at younger grade levels—reading and handwriting development.

Writing

Students are guided in developing strong writing skills through a structured, developmental approach. Instruction includes narrative, informational, persuasive, and creative writing, along with real-world applications and poetry. As students mature, emphasis is placed on organization, clarity, revision, and critical analysis.

Literature

Students read and analyze a wide range of classic and modern literature rather than relying solely on textbook excerpts. Our hybrid schedule allows students the time and flexibility to engage deeply with full-length texts, strengthening comprehension, discussion, and literary analysis skills.

Grammar

Grammar instruction is taught systematically and builds year over year. Strong grammatical foundations support clearer writing, effective editing, and improved communication skills, preparing students for advanced coursework and assessments.

Mathematics

We understand that math can feel intimidating for many parents. At Southwest Christian Academy, we provide the structure, resources, and support needed to confidently guide students at every level. Elementary students build strong foundations through consistent review and practice, while older students transition into more advanced, mastery-based concepts that prepare them for high school and life.  Instruction emphasizes problem-solving, reasoning, and mathematical confidence.

Science

Science at SCA encourages curiosity, discovery, and hands-on learning while affirming God as the Creator of all things. Students participate in experiments, labs, and multi-step projects that bring scientific concepts to life. Instruction emphasizes observation, inquiry, and application across life, earth, and physical sciences, helping students think critically while appreciating the complexity and beauty of God’s creation.

Social Studies / History

Social Studies and History are taught through a Christian worldview that recognizes both human action and God’s sovereign hand throughout history. Students explore historical events, cultures, and civilizations while learning to evaluate the past thoughtfully and responsibly. Instruction emphasizes cause and effect, character, leadership, and the lessons history teaches for life today.
